Russell Beattie has a point on the current wave of startups.
It's exactly what came to my mind after reading the news about Riya - the automatic photo tagging software. Cool in itself, especially cool for developers who do one more mashup of this site with another one. Definitely useful for a lot more uses than just tagging private photos. Intelligence agencies will love it.
But still: No new Google in sight. No new Microsoft.
