We finally made it.
As always, we had to fight through quite a few unexpected issues, but here it is: interiorcad 2010. Go check it out. We look forward to your feedback.
The first beta testers are already checking whether we did our homework or not. We will iron out the last glitches during the next days and then create the installers. We will announce the final availability of interiorcad 2010 as soon it is done. Stay tuned!
interiorcad 2010 introduces locking systems for drawers and doors. For the latter one, it even supports espagnolette locks. Of course all routings necessary to mount them will appear on your NC router.
Mainly for our very own joy and pleasure :) we decided to visualize all components as threedimensional objects. Thus the user gains much more control over the result:
interiorcad 2010 gets shipped with some symbols we call »Front Insertables«. The basic idea is that ovens etc. require a minimum segment size and need to tell a segment to switch off its back and the like. Front insertables are available directly from the front design dialog of the unit editor:
Therefore, such insertables are not just symbols, but also link to some additional information in the database:
interiorcad always provided a huge amount of cutting list export formats to various other software. However, it was not exactly straightforward to get data from an ERP system (like boards, veneers, edge bandings, finishings or prices of functional hardware) into interiorcad.
interiorcad 2010 provides a standardized interface. It's just up to five files in a dedicated format. Any ERP software which writes the files as specified in our docs (which are available on request free of charge) can export data to interiorcad. From within interiorcad, it's easy to import such data via the »Import Materials« command. Preconfigured favorites make it easy to use:
Besides this manual import, we have introduced an auto import feature. If an ERP software places the abovementioned files in a dedicated folder (of course the path is configurable), interiorcad will automatically import the data without any user interaction.
The frame learned some minor but nevertheless interesting details. Changes include separate controls for stiles and rails, making it possible to apply smaller sections to rails than to stiles, or to use stiles or rails only:
The frame even can be partitioned by some preconfigured favorites. Of course the frame still can be modified to use other sections, panels etc.:
Over the last few months, we have been busy working on interiorcad 2010. Besides a lot of new features (more details will follow during the next couple of days), we applied some changes to the infrastructure "behind the scenes".
In versions prior to interiorcad 2010, the command »Configure Supplier Data« allowed the user to select which functional hardware to display in the various lists. This command has been retired completely. Instead, interiorcad now uses an Sqlite database cache, which improves the overall performance and makes it possible to have all of the hinges, connectors, sliders etc. right at your fingertips at any time.
Additionally, we introduced a favorite system. Hardware marked as favorite will always appear at the top of the list, so your stock hardware set is selectable immediately:
Switching favorites is simple: Just single-click in the leftmost column of the desired entry to toggle its state.
