We released the fourth patch for interiorcad 2009 today. Fixes include:
- Fixed a couple of "accent" problems on Windows in the French version
- Division in front design couldn't be deleted on MacOS
- Improved placement of connectors located behind the back of a cabinet (if defined relative to front of cabinet)
- Improved placement of sliders for drawers with in-unit front panels
- Some buttons in front design "Fittings" tab where disfunctional on MacOS
- Changing front sometimes changed handle placement which wasn't intended
- Fixed rendering problem caused by wrongly encoded texture names
- Sorting cutting lists by length / width / depth sometimes didn't work
- ArcSmoother didn't restore selection when undone
- Added a maximum arc diameter setting in NC export (some machines require this)
- Cutouts weren't displayed properly in viewports
- Fixed crash if # of connectors on partitions was very large
- If you use interiorcad 2008 F4 in conjunction with Vectorworks 2009 SP4, hatches assigned to different parts of a cabinet will now show up in section viewports. Thanks to the engineering team @ NNA which went out of their way to support us in getting this feature to work.

We released the third patch for interiorcad 2009 today. It fixes a number of issues with handling of imperial measurements, adds support for merged cells in list layout template and general improvements to the handling of modern frame objects used as a unit's door or drawer.

We released the second patch for interiorcad 2009 today. It fixes a crucial performance issue which caused some unit plug-in objects to take 10 seconds+ to regenerate.

Just a brief update on our interiorcad 2009 release schedule:
We are in the final stages of testing both the German language Vectorworks interiorcad / interior xs 2009 and the English language interiorcad / interior xs 2009.
Please hold your breath for a few more days. Thanks for your patience.
In interiorcad 2009, boards, coverings & finishings are linked to textures.
If you change the base material, covering or finishing of a part, e.g from white laminate to beach veneer, interiorcad will automatically set the texture of the parts properly. Plus, if the texture needed isn't available in the current document, interiorcad will search the texture libraries and automagically import the texture.
While we're busy putting the finishing touches on interiorcad 2009, here is another teaser:
One of #1 request regarding interiorcad updates was: There is no automatic migration of user generated data / favorites / settings between versions.
interiorcad 2009 will be able to migrate
- Materials
- Favorites
- Settings
- VectorWOP Configurations
from interiorcad 2008. Data migration will happen automatically when using interiorcad 2009 features the first time:
interiorcad 2009 integrates different custom frame panels with modern frames:
- Glass & Muntins
- Tambour
- Louver
- Perforated metal
Of course, these frame panels are fully integrated with the cabinet builder - including non-rectangular shapes:
The Parasolids engine in Vectorworks 2009 vastly improves performance and reliability of frame geometry generation.
Modern frames now feature beads. Here's a front bead, for example:
A bead's base geometry is defined, like stiles/rails, by a 2D section symbol. Modern frames support different beads for front and back of the frame. Of course, beaded frames can be used as cabinet doors & drawer fronts, too.
(Edit: Of course, beads can be textured ;-) - We just refrained from doing it for the screenshot in order to make the beads really stand out)
interiorcad 2009 adds
- Wooden pins
- Leg Levellers
- Center Supports with custom height
Wooden Pins
Wooden Pins can be assigned to the different parts of a plinth. Corresponding drillings will be generated by Part Layout... and NC-Export....
Leg levellers
Pre-interiorcad 2009, leg levellers could be defined, but neither drillings nor proper geometry for leg levellers was generated. interiorcad 2009 introduces full support for leg levellers, including front/mid/back placement of leg levellers and generation of 3D-geometry based on symbols. Additionally, a (blind) dado can be generated in all parts of the plinth. Drilling patterns for leg levellers will be created, too. Check out the screenshot above for more details (which is a weird mixture of an international English version of interiorcad with German content - please bear with us).
We will ship a library of the most commonly used leg levellers by major suppliers.
Center Supports with Custom Height
Center supports can be assigned a custom height reduction in order to accommodate for uneven floors.
In a drawing of any substantial size, it's hard to remember which objects have been assigned cutting list information (materials) already and which objects are still to be processed.
interiorcad 2009's new Show Materials Assigned command selects all objects which already have been assigned cutting list information / material.
A picture is worth a thousand words:
Handle profiles are defined as 2D section symbols in Libraries/xg/.... Here are some of the symbols available:
In order to add additional profiles to the library, customers have to
- draw the 2D profile
- assign cutting list information to the 2D profile (containing the supplier id)
- create a symbol of the 2D profile and put it in Libraries/xg/... (or the current document)
Dados for handle profiles will be generated in Part Layout... and NC-Export - NC templates will have to be updated with support for this new kind of dado.
Connectors
In addition to back screws, which were introduced with interiorcad 2008, interiorcad 2009 features full support for connectors & wooden pins to attach the back to the unit.
Blind dados
Blind dados are supported both for unit sides / top / bottoms and for segments in front design - individually configurable for each corner of the unit.
Congratulations to NNA for shipping Vectorworks 2009!
We couldn't be happier with Vectorworks 2009's new modelling engine Parasolids. It's nothing short of stupendous.
