How to get the functional hardware you need

| | Comments (2)

InteriorCAD 3 gets shipped with a subset of all available hardware. If you want to use hardware of another manufacturer, have a look at "Shop -> Preferences -> Configure supplier data...".

In the appearing dialog, select and deselect hardware to fit your needs. After pressing the OK button, interiorCAD needs some time to update the database. Please be patient, this process can take up to 15 minutes.

Well, then... my first question is also the first commentary of this support ;)
So, if I want to create my own hardware, like a new hinge (because it is not existing or having a different ID in your library), what can I do?
Runaway? :P

PS: this question is serious for sure! And many others are following...for sure.

Running and hiding is one option :-)

In order to properly support part layout, NC export and other functionality, interiorCAD needs pretty detailed technical information about a piece of functional hardware like a hinge.

If you want to add completely new hardware to the database, our current recommendation is to contact our technical support and we will put the data in the database for you (and make it available for other users).

If you need to change "sales-related" information like descriptions or order numbers of existing hardware already in the database, you will need to edit the text files containing these specs. This can be done with Excel, for example.

You will find those files in the XG Resources folder of your interiorCAD installation. Their name is postfixed by the term "Sales" , e.g. HingesSales.txt would contain descriptions, order number, supplier & pricing information for hinges.
